Principal's Message

Our Centennial Team is here to support students, families, and our community. 

In addition to both our principal and assistant principal, the school is guided by our Big Picture Team that is made up of teachers from all content areas and grade levels. Wherever possible we make decisions democratically and by consensus with the whole faculty and have a decision making matrix that allows for us as an organization to trust each other and our processes to stay focused on what is best for kids and for moving our school forward.   

This team of educators and administrators meets weekly and consists of a representative from each area of the school. Our primary work is to keep an eye on the “big picture”. From scheduling issues to resource allocation to school improvements, this group focuses on having shared decision making be at the foundation of all we do. The group, unless delegated to, does not make decisions on it’s own but provides for some efficiency as we have needed conversations about how we can keep growing and improving as a school and then bring the larger faculty and, as needed, community, into the conversation.
 

This Centennial team was formed in an effort to ensure that our meeting time as educators will have a balance of critical information delivery along with professional development that focuses on instruction. This group works to provide the needed supports for our Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) to include teaching in the block, literacy across content areas, social and emotional skill development and instructional changes informed by student data.   

The purpose of this representative advisory committee (comprising parents, teachers, principal, administrators, and community members) is to look at school goals, drive school improvements in academics and climate,  and review school budgets. Visit our SAC page for more information.

 

This group focuses on ensuring that equity becomes front and center in all of our work here at Centennial. From increased family engagement to ideas for closing the achievement gap, this group has plans for holding conversations and creating action plans for improving the Centennial experience for all of our students and families.
