Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education

Equity serves as the foundation for all we do. All students bring a wealth of linguistic and cultural experiences that contribute to and support their learning at Centennial. All educators are teachers of language and impact the experience and success of emerging bilingual students. We believe all students, educators, and families benefit from being part of a diverse learning community and that partnerships and trust between educators and families are critical to student success.

Courses in English language development provide training in general study techniques and specific language arts strategies necessary for an understanding of core content areas. Each course aids students, especially those with little previous schooling, to make the transition from remedial classes to mainstream curriculum. Students learn correct and effective expression, interpretation or content reading and test-taking techniques.
