About me: I am from Cambridge, Massachusetts. I received my bachelor’s degree in forest biology and botany from the University of Vermont, and stayed in the area to work on a National Science Foundation Grant for two years. For two years following, I tried my hand at teaching skiing and sailing to children, and then moved to Colorado nineteen years ago to work with Outward Bound in Denver. After working there, and for another youth travel company in Boulder, I decided to work with children in a more organized setting, and so I applied to the Masters in Education program at CU Boulder. I graduated in 2004, and have been with BVSD ever since. I spent the last 13 years teaching fifth grade at Foothill Elementary, and I am so excited for the new and different challenges of teaching middle school. I have my endorsement in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), which has proved an invaluable education for teaching all students, and passed the National Boards for Teaching in 2014. Teaching has proven to be my calling and I truly look forward to coming to work every day! My husband and I have lived near Ideal Market for seventeen years. We have two children, Harriet and Charlie. Harriet is nine and heading to 4th grade this year and Charlie is seven and moving up to 2nd grade. Outside of school, I love to spend time with my kids, camp, ski, sail, travel, run, mountain bike and work in my garden.
